The Real McCoy's Coat, Man's, Field, M-65 / Early Model Olive
Arguably the finest Americana reproduction brand from Japan, the Real McCoy's painstakingly recreate and update original garments for the modern day offering the best from the past, replicated to perfection without compromise in Japan.Â
The M65 is arguably recognised as the definitive US Army Field Jacket. Introduced to the US Army in 1965 replacing the M-51 Field Jacket, with its durable and windproof material and detachable inner lining, the M65 was made to withstand the often extreme climates.
The MJ23005 from The Real McCoy's is diligently reproduced in Japan, recreated to original mil-spec standard, if not improving on fabric and fit. This version of the M-65 from McCoy's was first released in 1965 and in production for only one year, making the original versions extremely sought after. It can be distinguished between later models by the absence of epaulettes on the shoulders and its lighter less saturated olive drab, while minor adjustments to pattern and materials were also made.Â
McCoy's use bespoke materials throughout to faithfully reproduce this model. The sewing techniques used throughout are the same as mil-spec as are the aluminium zips and correct colour issue. The outer shell uses a high density woven cotton, while the four large pockets can be closed with heavy press studs. The fit on this version has been improved, allowing for superior ease of movement and mobility with the updated effectiveness of the action pleat back.Â
